Q1. What inspired you to start Social Gifting?

“I lost a classmate to suicide. He was part of our founding team and believed crafting could keep people socially connected. I turned that regret into purpose, creating Social Gifting as a platform to help differently-abled individuals regain confidence, purpose, and independence through crafting. Seeing the joy on our crafters’ faces when their handmade creations are appreciated reaffirms my belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society.”

Q2. What problem is Social Gifting trying to solve?

“We aim to tackle social isolation among differently-abled individuals. Many face barriers to employment and community engagement, so Social Gifting provides a dignified way to earn income, connect with others, and be valued for their abilities rather than their limitations.”

Q3. How does every purchase make a difference to the people you support?

“Every purchase supports the crafters’ livelihood, builds their confidence, and reminds them their work matters. Beyond income, it fosters inclusion and shows they are seen, appreciated, and part of a caring community.”

Q4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned on this journey so far?

“I have learned that everyone has their own strengths. If we judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will always feel inadequate. True change takes time, and small acts of kindness can create powerful ripples of confidence, belonging, and impact.”

“I hope Social Gifting continues to grow as a sustainable social enterprise that empowers and includes. I want to inspire more students to become compassionate leaders — to champion inclusivity, celebrate abilities, and make kindness a way of life.”
